Henry Ford Hospital's bariatric program in Detroit has been named by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery as a Center of Excellence.
This designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of good results in bariatric surgery. The Henry Ford team was recognized for providing top quality care and excellent pre- and post-surgical support to each patient.
Our surgeons are supported by a skilled team of professionals including physicians, nurses, registered dietitians, psychologists and exercise specialists. This team approach provides each patient with the comprehensive pre- and post-surgical support he or she needs to be successful.
Henry Ford also is a Center of Excellence for United Health Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Cross Network and Cigna. This designation is awarded to programs that have the best outcomes and lowest lowest rates of complications.
Henry Ford Hospital bariatric surgeons, Dr. Jeffrey Genaw and Dr. Arthur Carlin have performed more than 1,900 bariatric surgeries with a mortality rate of 0.2 percent with 99 percent of surgeries being done laparoscopically. This includes laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy as well as laparoscopic adjustable gastric band surgery.
